latest snack addictions

Lately I have been addicted to these 2 snacks, one healthy and the other not so healthy...

VEGGIE CRISPS

I LOVE these.  I am shocked that I like them so much because just looking at the bag I think they look disgusting.  One of my friends at work had them one day and I tried them and finished off her whole bag.  They are so, so good.  I went to Costco the next day and bought a big bag for $4.

COOKIES & CREAM CHEX MIX

I saw these at the store the other day and decided to buy them and try them out.  John and I finished off the bag that night.  I think they are even better than the Chex muddy buddy mix, which I also love.

You should give these a try if you haven't already.

she's a movin'

I found this post that I had saved as a draft and just realized I never published it.  This is about 2 months late, but better now then never.

Brooklyn has been scootin' around for a little while now, and I was finally able to snap a few pictures of her in motion.

Here she is going for her cheerio container...

John's Birthday

I have been a slight slacker about blogging lately and need to catch up these next few days.

First = John's Birthday.
John turned 28 on the 27th of September.
We have been looking lately into getting a backpack carrier for Brooklyn to carry her in when we go hiking or do other things, so that is what John got.  We went to REI and he picked out the one he wanted.
We tested it out that night by hiking Ensign Peak.
It was a fun night spent together and Brooklyn loved being in the backpack
We are excited to use it more.

Monday night (the night before John's birthday) we had a dinner with just my siblings to celebrate John's, Pete's (the 24th), and Lindsey's (the 25th) birthdays.  We had spaghetti at our house and chocolate cake and ice cream.  (Unfortunately, Pete was unable to come last minute).

there are 38 candles on that cake.....28 for John and 10 for Lindsey

On John's actual birthday he had school and work all day, but he was able to get off a little early and meet me at Red Robin (his choice) for dinner.  Jeannette watched Brooklyn for us and it was so nice to have the time alone for a couple hours.  We picked up Brooklyn and came home so she could give her presents to John.....a big box of oreos and a case of diet DP :)

Sunday (Conference weekend) - we had the Mortensen side over to celebrate his birthday.  We had hamburgers and hot dogs and John's cute nieces made him a birthday cake.

Weekend Review - including the Dirty Dash

We had a fun weekend.

Friday after work we headed up to Park City and met our friends Drew and Marin at the Alpine slide.  John rode the Alpine Coaster with them while I fed Brooklyn and waited at the bottom.  He loved it and said it was much better than the Alpine slide.  We need to go back soon so I can do it too.  After we walked around for awhile and stopped and got some treats at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory.  We shared an apple pie caramel apple....mmmm....deelish!

Saturday morning we left Brooklyn with Rich and Misty and headed to Soldier Hollow to run the 10k Dirty Dash.  It was crazy....and so much fun.  Basically we ran 6 miles in the mud with obstacle courses every half mile or so.  There were 9 of us on our team, including our good friends Ryan and Mandy who had done the race before.  My brother Mike was sooo nice to come up and watch us and be our photographer.  He got some great shots of us at the beginning and end of the race.

The starting line.  They had to start people at different times because there were so many people.  Our starting time was 10:20.

The race and obstacles looked like this:

These next pictures are all of us running and jumping in the final mud pit near the finish line..

John and his friend Ryan dove in head first

Our team right before crossing the finish line

And finally, Saturday night Jeannette, Misty, Meg, and I went to the General Relief Society broadcast together.  Afterwards Jeannette treated us all to Sweet Tomatoes.  It was so fun to have a night out with some of my favorite girls.

And that was our weekend.

don't leave your Sonic drink lyin' around...

at our house.

Or this little girl might get it and dump it all over herself :)

I left the room for one minute and came back and found her like this.  I think she was pretty proud of herself.

a little photo-shoot

One of my favorite things to do is take pictures of Brooklyn.
Although, I wish I was a photographer and actually good at taking pictures.
It is so fun having a pretty dang cute subject to shoot.

Lately I have had fun letting her crawl around outside while I take a million pictures of her.
These were the latest ones.  (there really are about a million - I included them all)

Enjoy!
(and p.s. - I made the skirt and matching bow...not sure that I like how the skirt turned out)

John joined us and Brooklyn was immediately interested in his food.
She will open her mouth, like she is in the second picture, when she sees other people eating.
