4 months

Miss B is now 4 months old (well, actually almost 4 1/2 months old).  I know everyone says how fast they grow, especially the first year, and that is so true!  She changes so much every day and is so much fun.

Her 4 month stats are:

weight: 15.2 lbs (80%)

height:  24 1/4 inches (50%)
I can't remember her head measurements.
She has stayed right on track from her 2 month appointment with the 50%/80% for height/weight.

A few things about B, followed by various pictures I have taken lately...

• she is a great sleeper - I know I shouldn't brag about this and jinx myself, but she started sleeping 10 hours through the night (8:30-6:30) just before she turned 3 months old.  I thought it was just a lucky week, but she has kept it up.  I think she knows her mom needs her sleep and doesn't function very well without it :)
• she can roll over from stomach to back but not back to stomach
• is smiling and "talking" all the time 
• has had a million her fair share of diaper blow-outs...and the solution to this...her mom finally bought her the next size up in diapers...it was about time!
• reaches for toys and puts everything in her mouth
• is always covered in drool
• has the chubbiest cheeks and legs

Mother's Day

I was thinking back to last year at this time - it was when I thought there was a possibility I could be pregnant, but had yet to take a pregnancy test.  I had no idea at that time how much my life would change over the next year.

I love being a mom.

It is the hardest job I have ever loved.

 John and I are so blessed to have such amazing mothers.   These two are the most selfless, loving, patient, Christ-like, humble, people I know.  They amaze me at how much they are continually serving others.  I hope to be like them one day.  John and I love you very much and are very, very grateful for all you do.

Graduation/Birthday/Easter

This post is a bit late - just haven't had time to upload the pictures yet.  But anyway...

Friday, April 22nd was my 25th birthday, my sister-in-law's graduation from BYU, and the beginning of Easter weekend.  Here's the recap of it:

Friday - John and I took off work for Sonya's graduation from BYU (graduated with her MBA) and my birthday.  We woke up early to get down to Provo and in our seats by 8 o'clock for the ceremony.  We surprisingly made it just in time :)  We are so proud of her and so glad that we were able to be there to support her.  She started the MBA program when John and I first met and started dating - can't believe that was a little less than 2 years ago.

After the ceremony, pictures, and a reception we headed to John's aunt and uncles house so I could feed Brooklyn and to wait for our reservation at Tucanos.  All I can say is yum!  I was starving and ate and ate and ate.  And ate some more!  It was so good.  The waitress/waitresses came around with their drums and had those of us celebrating, me (birthday), Sonya (graduation), Curtis (wedding anniversary...Heather had left at this point to get to a Kindergarten party) "shake it" while they played a song.  We headed over to Heather and Curtis's house.  John played with our nephew Luke and Brooklyn and I crashed in their lounge chair - it was the best nap I've had in a long time.  Around 6 o'clock we went over to Raf and Claudia's house, picked up some Paradise Bakery Cafe, and ate at their house.  Ryan, Mandy, and Clover came over shortly after for cake, ice cream, and games.  It was a great night and I couldn't have asked more for my birthday - to spend time with my family and friends.  We finally got home around 10:45 that night and we were all pooped.  Brooklyn was a trooper all day and slept 11 hours that night.

Saturday - We slept in a bit.  I went to work (made up for the day I took off) and got home around 4:30.  I was able to get the Sorensons/Mortensens tickets to the Bee's game.  We had great seats and it was fun (they even put that it was my birthday on the scoreboard....although the office made it a joke and put Happy 30th Birthday....not quite yet!).  It was a lot colder then I thought it would be so we didn't end up staying for the whole game or for the fireworks after.  It makes me excited for the summer and to go to more games.

Sunday - John put together Brooklyn's Easter toy = an exersaucer.  I actually bought this before she was born but decided to give it to her now because there isn't a holiday coming up before Christmas..and she'll definitely fit in it before then.  She is a little too short for her right now, but she still seems to love playing in it.  I also bought her an Easter dress, that matched my sister's kids outfits, and little white sandel shoes.  She looked pretty darn cute (forgot to take a picture though).

(I was planning on doing a small Easter basket for John and I and bought a few bags of candy a couple weeks before...but they didn't last long.  We ate them all, with Easter still a week away.  I didn't think it was a good idea to go buy more.  Maybe next year I'll just buy one bag and get it the day before).

After church we headed to my sister's house for Easter dinner/my birthday dinner.  My mom, who was still in town from Russia, made the majority of the meal and it was delicious.

It was a fun weekend spent together as a family.  I was exhausted Monday morning when I woke up early for work, but it was all worth it.    

I'm losin' it

I really am.

This last week I've embarressed myself quite a bit.  I don't know what's wrong with me - usually I think a little more before I speak or think things through a little better.  Here's a few examples:

#1 - On Sunday at church a woman in the primary came up to me and started asking me how it was being a new mom, etc. and asked if John and I missed being in primary.  My response was, "Yes...especially because now I have to suffer through sunday school." (now this is mostly a joke...but honestly it isn't my favorite part about church)  Well I didn't realize that her husband, who happened to be standing right next to her, is one of the sunday school teachers until he smiles and says, "I'm glad you're enjoying my lessons so much."  .......................Oops.  I tried to make up for it and say something like well obviously I've never been to your class because I didn't know you were even a teacher, but they were walking away at this point.

#2 - I ran into an old high school friend the other day at the Gateway.  We sort of did a double take at each other when she said, "Hi Becky!"  And my response was, "Hi ............. (smile)."  I could NOT remember her name.  I played it off pretty well and immediately started asking her questions about her life and such.  The whole conversation I was trying so hard to remember her name and drew a complete blank.  We started saying the "oh it was good to see you" .... when she flat out asked me, "You don't remember my name do you?" ...................... (this was a girl that I ran cross country with for 4 years).  I turned bright red and said, "No, I'm so sorry I don't."  I could immediately tell she was offended and she said, "Well, it's Kara."  She turned and walked away.  Oops.

#3 - (the least embarressing of them all)  I went to dinner last night with some friends from college.  Two of them are pregnant, due in May, with what I thought were both girls.  I took a gift for each of them.  Luckily neither of them opened their gift right then and I sat down and we started chatting.  I asked one of them if they had a name picked out and she told us.  My response was, "Wait....you're having a boy??"  She nodded and I said, "Umm...I'm going to need my gift back."  We all started laughing and making a joke about it.  I do not know why I thought she was having a girl - well probably because almost everyone I know is having a girl - but still.  We laughed even harder when she opened the gift and pulled out headbands and flowers for her little boy.  Oops.

Oh well - what'd ya do?   

cousin Hailey

Most of you know, but my sister had her baby last week!

It was quite the the exciting week.  Hailey wasn't due until May 22nd, so about 6 1/2 weeks early.  Jeannette was showing signs of pre-clampsia again, like she had with Jack who was 8 weeks early, and the doctor decided to do a c-section.     

She weighed 3 lbs 15 oz.

17 1/2 inches long.

She is the smallest, littlest thing I have ever seen!  I got to see her in the NICU just hours after she was born and she almost looked fake because she is so petite.  Brooklyn seems like a giant to me now, which technically she is compared to Hailey.  Hailey is absolutely adorable and I already love her so much!! 

I can't wait to see Brooklyn, Lucy (my cousin's little girl), Hailey, Tom and Kelsi's little girl (due in June), and Rich and Misty's little girl (also due in June), become best little friends.  So many little girls!!

There are a lot of things I want to blog about, but don't have the time or energy to make them individual ones.  So here's a long, random/catch up post:

Brooklyn had her 2 month checkup (although she was really 2 1/2 months because her doctor was out of town until then):

She is chunkin' right up and I'm lovin' it!

poor girl had to get her first shots...it was the saddest, yet funniest thing. she was smiling/cooing at the nurse who was about to poke her and then made the biggest frown face at her and burst into tears.

 She has found her thumb/hands and is sucking on them more and more.  I'm not sure if I should be worried about this.  I think the thumb sucking is adorable, but she also LOVES her binkie and I don't want her to be attached to both. 

I have taken her out a few times in the jogger (which is a lot harder to run with than I expected) and she loves it.  She just lays there and looks around until she eventually falls asleep.

 This picture cracks me up because this is what she does every single time.  I turn her over to wash her back and she walks her way up until she's standing and then starts marching.  You can see her little foot doing this in the picture.  I'll have to get it on video soon.   

I worked on Saturday a couple weeks ago and took her with me.  She was a gem and just layed on my desk and snoozed while I got my work done.
